What If It’s True? (Luke 2:11)
December 24, 2006
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is
Christ the Lord.
Hebrews 1:1, 2 - In the
past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times
and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by
his Son.
John 1:1 In the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He
was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made;
without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life,
and that life was the light of men.
Three stages of believing in
Santa…
Three stages of Christmas observance
1.
Christmas was about Jesus’ birth
2.
Christmas was about giving gifts (God
gave us a gift…)
3.
Goal is to drive Christ out of Christmas altogether

Eccl 3:11 He has made everything
beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of
men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
If it’s true…
…Jesus is the
only way, truth, and life (John 14:6) one and only WAY
to an eternity in heaven absolute TRUTH does exist and
only in Jesus
LIFE
the way the designer designed it is only found in a relationship w/
Christ
If it’s true…
… two choices
John 3:16
- "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not
condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned
already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and
only Son.
John 1:9
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the
world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made
through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that
which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all
who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the
right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural
descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have
seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the
Father, full of grace and truth.
If it’s
true…
… total surrender is the required
response.
… “no one who finds
himself with a final destiny apart from God will be able to say,
‘that’s not fair!’” (Sire, p. 60)
Heb 11:6 … without faith
it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must
believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek
him.
