Sunday Morning Sermon Summary
Pastor Paul Lundberg
Note to the
visitor: These are Pastor Paul’s sermon notes from Sunday
Morning. They probably won’t make much sense if you
weren’t in the service. Feel free to contact Pastor Paul if you’d
like more detailed information.
Series: If our church wasn’t here (would anyone miss
us)?
Part 3: Live, Love, and Leave a Legacy
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20)
February 18, 2007
Deut 30:19 This day I
call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set
before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so
that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the
LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the
LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he
swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
What’s our “business”?
To be a disciple is to be undeniably
recognizable as the people of the one true and living God (Stuart Briscoe)
How’s business?
Would we be missed?
1. LIVEDeut 30:19 This day I call heaven and
earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and
death, blessings and curses. Now choose life
John 10:9, 10
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come
in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.

Fun matters, Joy matters, Confidence
matters, “Miracles” matter
2. LOVE (God and people) -
Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God,
listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.
Matt 22:37 (Mark
12:30-31) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all
your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31
The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no
commandment greater than these."
To love God with all your heart
is to be constantly growing in knowledge and appreciation for who He
is (knowledge/appreciation for neighbor)
To love with all your soul
is to place God as first priority (neighbor ahead of self)
To love God with your mind
is to focus on conscious obedience (be always thinking of ways to
serve your neighbor)
To love God with all your strength
is the action part of loving
Real loving starts when
feelings end; Real loving is hard, sacrificial, work; “Love
is something you do!”
To love God with your strength
happens when God is not “performing”
To love your
neighbor with all your strength happens when your neighbor isn’t
lovable.
3. LEAVE A LEGACY – Begin
with the end in mind
For the LORD is your
life, and he will give you many years in the land he
swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
1 Cor 1:4 I always
thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. 5
For in him you have been enriched in every way-in all your speaking
and in all your knowledge- 6 because our testimony about Christ was
confirmed in you. 7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as
you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will
keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day
of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God, who has called you into fellowship
with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful
Visualize your funeral
- What do want your spouse to say? Your kids? Your neighbor? Your
boss? Would a perfect stranger want to speak?
CONCLUSION:
1. Those shall have life that
choose it:
2. Those that come short of life and
happiness have No one to blame but themselves!
People
who know how to live, who love with heart, soul, mind, and strength
are people who will be missed
A church
that bristles with a visible spirit of joy and rejoicing, that knows
how to have hilarious, over-the-top fun, that knows how to “go for
the gusto”, that loves God, each other, and their neighbors, with
heart, soul, mind, and strength will be a church that would be
missed.
Vision
for ABChurch: Here making disciples when Jesus comes
2007 a year of renewal and revival
for “the land” (life, family, future, church) - - - a year of
learning to share what the land produces - - - a year of learning to
depend on God for the small things
