A SUMMARY
OF COMMENTS FROM PASTOR PAUL’S INSTALLATION SERVICE
Sunday, February 26, 2006

WALT JACOBY: Keynote Speaker
“Effective pastoral ministry is three-dimensional: the pastor’s
part, the congregation’s part and God’s part.”
The
pastor’s part is to be a lover of God, a lover of his wife, family,
children, and the church, and a lover of the community
Congregations share the same callings
When
pastor and congregation are faithful to their part, God will provide
power and effectiveness for ministry: “Trust in the Lord with all
your heart, and lean not unto your own understanding…and He will
direct your path.”
BOB CHERRY: Charge to the
Church
Five
things a healthy church needs to do:
1. Cast vision for this community – God has a vision for this
community and it needs to come through His church
2. Create environments to reach unchurched people, grow disciples,
and develop leaders
a. “Churches that are effective in
reaching the community for Christ see the
needs of the unchurched, establish
ministries that allow the church to be present
in the community, and have a process by
which they are able to draw these
unchurched people into the safety of
Christ and the local church.”
b. Grow disciples – People
who think and behave biblically, who are
characterized by genuine, authentic
relationships and who are involved in
identifying and developing their
spiritual gifts;
c. Develop leaders – people who know how
to grow and develop other
leaders
3. Care for people
4. Confront evil wherever it’s found
5. Connect people to Jesus Christ

PASTOR PAUL’S RESPONSE
God to
Gideon in Judges 7: “Be greatly encouraged…be eager to attack!”
We
know what God wants to do: make Himself famous for He truly is,
extend His kingdom, and reconciled the world to Himself. My prayer
is that the result of this afternoon will be to greatly encourage us
and that we will be eager to take on all that God has for us!
